Abandoned Prisoners Program

In Nicaragua, Prisoners are only provided the bare essentials: food (usually beans and rice every day) and water. Anything else must be brought to them, usually by their families. However, 40-50% of the prison population in Nicaragua is considered abandoned – they have no family or their families are too distant or too poor to provide assistance. We help them through:

We have also begun an "Adopt a Prisoner" program in which abandoned prisoners are matched directly with a unique sponsor. Through building these relationships, we hope create a network of caring individuals - a family - to support these prisoners
